ABOUT ME
I’m an all round media professional; I shoot, I edit, I design. I’m not just in media because its my job, I’m in it because I’m passionate about being creative, informing and entertaining people.
I’m now based in Salzburg, Austria at the Red Bull Media House as a Senior Video Editor, working on Action Sports coverage and documentaries. Previous to Red Bull I worked as a Senior Technical Operator for the BBC for nearly a decade, specialising in Picture Editing for News, Current Affairs and Documentaries. I’ve also worked freelance for various clients including the BBC and Olympic Broadcast Service (Innsbruck Youth Winter Games & London 2012). I also shoot, edit & produce films for events, video portraits, wedding, music videos and more.
Programmes I have worked on: Bullit (Red Bull), Chameleon Web Series (Red Bull), Dakar Rally 2013 (For RedBull.com/Motorsports), North West Tonight, The Politics Show North West, Inside Out, Newsnight (BBC One), BBC Breakfast, East Midlands Today.
A little more about me: After studying Computer Animation at Teeside University which took in all aspects of production, I worked as a graphic & web designer, developed 3D presentations for promotional products & helped implement the company’s new digital printing technology. 6 months later I was lucky enough to be selected as a Broadcast Technology Trainee by the BBC working in live TV & Radio and I haven’t looked back since. I’ve worked my way up over nearly a decade from trainee to Senior Craft Editor & multi-skilled operator. Currently I’m based in Salzburg, Austria at the Red Bull Media House, after being in Manchester at the BBC’s new MediaCityUK studios in Salford Quays for nearly 3 years. Outside of work I have a passion for photography, film production and web design. I love to travel and keep up with technology.
Skills:
Broadcasting: Editing, cameras, sound, videography, media management (including format encoding).
Editing Experience: Avid, FCP and Quantel.
Camera Experience: Canon DSLR’s including the 5DmkII. Sony Z1, Z5, Z7, Sony DSR 450 as well as studio based cameras.
Design & Motion Graphics: Quantel Paintbox/Effects, Photoshop, Dreamweaver.
Web Design: WordPress, CSS & HTML
